I am an "auntie"! Our besties in Seattle welcomed a little...okay not so little boy on June 30th at 8:36am. He weighed in at 10 lbs, 11 oz and it sounds like mama, daddy and baby are doing great. CONGRATULATIONS guys, can't wait to meet him!

C-A-T
As most of you know we were pretty worried that Oscar (our 18 pound tomcat) wouldn't take nicely to our newest addition. To our surprise and delight - they get along great. He is a sweet cat if you give him a chance, and Hadley seems interested in him more and more lately. I guess it's only a matter of time before she's chasing him around the house and pulling his tail elmira style.

La Dolce Vita
Can I just say that I hope in my next life I come back as an Italian? The people, the wine, the food, the countryside, the wine....did I mention the wine? Despite the fact that we all need to be swiftly deposited in a detox facility to recover from the sheer volume of wine and cheese that we consumed this week -- we had an amazing time.
Picture this. Wake up, 8am (including Hadley who magically decided to start sleeping 8pm to 8am this week)...9am, breakfast and strong Italian coffee...10am, us in the sun by the pool, Hadley under her umbrella...12pm, pasta lunch...melone con prosciutto, caprese salad made with fresh basil out of our garden...2pm, wine tasting, private cellar tour...4pm, afternoon nap...5pm, fire up the wood fired pizza oven in the back yard, fresh pizza and/or tuscan steaks and Brunello on the deck watching the sunset over the tuscan hills. Next day -- wake up, repeat.
We spent a week just so. We also managed short day trips to the cities of Siena and Pienza and finished the week with a night in Manarola, Cinque Terre -- swimming in the local swimming hole and eating mussels and then gelato in the hot sun before returning to Zurich.
I should also mention that the Italians loooove babies, Hadley was the star of the show at nearly every winery we visited. At one of our favorites, Vitanza Cellars, the winemaker (Rosalba) stopped in the middle of the tour to proclaim that she just couldn't finish her speech because she "could just eat that baby!" and proceeded to tote Hadley around for the remainder of the tour.
One evening two locals came to our place for a five course Italian cooking lesson. We made tuscan bean soup, goat chese and onion tart, caprese salad, hand made picci pasta with fresh pesto and tomato sauce, a bacon wrapped pork flank and followed it up with tiramisu. As you can imagine, it was incredible to make all of those dishes from scratch! Not sure I could repeat it, but some day I will try :)
Italy will forever remain one of our favorite countries in the world...we are already our return trip to Castello Romitorio for my 30th birthday in 2011!

Tonight, we roadtrip.
We are finally leaving for a very long anticipated week -- in a VILLA IN TUSCANY!! I am shakin in my boots. I am so ready for a week of wine tasting, pool lounging, italian cooking lessons and a quick stop in Cinque Terra that I can hardly wait!

Today...
I weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces and was 23.6 inches long! I am now in the 10th percentile for height and the 25th percentile for weight. Go me! And according to my parents, I am still the cutest baby on the block.

The countdown is on.
After 4 weeks of medical leave pre-delivery and 15 weeks of maternity leave with the sweetest girl ever...I am going back to good ole PwC tomorrow :(
The good news is that Hadley is being left in the very capable hands of our friend Coy and Kacey's neice who is visiting for the summer and using her hard earned funds for traveling in her spare time.
The other good news - tomorrow marks the first of my last 20 days ever at PwC. That's right folks, it's official. This new mom is calling it a day with public accounting!
Kacey was kind enough to buy me an "advent calendar" in the form of a box of chocolates - 20 to be exact...One for each day until my last :)
Wish me luck. Something tells me there are going to be a lot of tears tomorrow :(
