Auntie Lisa comes to Seattle

 

 

She came and went too quickly - but it was so great to have a little piece of my Zurich life right here in Seattle with us! Lisa moved back to San Francisco in June and has beeen enjoying a five month sabbatical from KPMG before starting back in December. Lees was nice enough to use a few days to visit Seattle and we're so glad she did! I did my best to show her my favorite places - we strolled through the market, ate hum bows, shopping downtown, martinis at Vons, pre-dinner drinks at the Alibi room, dinner at the Pink Door, brunch at the 5 spot on Queen Anne and more shopping in Fremont. We even walked around Greenlake with Julie & Bennett and since her trip wouldn't have been complete without it - ate sushi just before sending her on a plane back to San Fran!

Thanks for coming Lisa - we love you (especially Hadley :)

The 8 month Files

8 months today!

Latest words: Mamamammamamama, Dadadadadada, Babababababab (this babbling is somewhat new, and is really starting to sound like she's saying mama and dada - Andy of course is trying to push for dada first).

Favorite Things: Oscar - now that we are CRAWLING(!!) if she sees Oscar across the room she gets over to him as fast as she possibly can (and that's pretty fast). He's not quite as impressed as Mommy is and he takes off the second she gets there, poor girl, he's just taunting her at this point.

Favorite Foods: She really likes it all, but her favorite by far is feeding herself. I feel like her days of pureed baby food were over almost as soon as they started. We started with "mum mum" crackers & puffs - one day Bennett was feeding himself some puffs so we tried to give Hadley one and sure enough she seemed ready - now she can't get enough of feeding herself and it is so cute. This kid will eat anything: bits of turkey, havarti cheese, mango, banana, edamame, peas, carrots, and corn...you name it, as long as she can pick it up she'll eat it.

Dislikes: I think she's starting to cut her 2nd tooth and I can tell she's not having much fun with it, we'll see where it decides to pop up! For now she still has just the one on the bottom, it's finally all the way up and she likes to touch it a lot.

Accomplishments: Crawls all over tarnation - everyone told me "i was in for it" once she started crawling, but I love it! It's so much fun to see her follow me (and often Oscar) all over the house. In a lot of ways it's almost easier since she'll follow me while I get a few things done. She's also blowing raspberries and getting into a sitting position from crawling - it looks like she's doing baby yoga.

Highlight of the month: A very fun trip to Hood Canal with the Marianis and Dills - Hadley had so much fun watching all the kayaking, crabbing, barbecuing and of course my friend Cassie's daughter Hannah (who is 3) - Hadley loves watching other kids!

Remlinger Farms!

A 15 pound pumpkin, a tractor hay ride, a big bag of kettle corn, a caramel apple and a take-home blackberry peach pie...it was a great day with friends!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We Heart NY

New York City is one fabulous city, that is for sure. From the Meatpacking District with Chelsea market, trendy restaurants (Pastis anyone?) and wine bars galore...to Greenwich village where hoards of NYU students mull around the main fountain square trying to look smart and edgy...to the upper East Side where princesses with big diamonds and little dogs push their bugaboos to cappuccino dates and Tiffany. We covered some serious ground up and down the island - and ate everything from upscale Italian to the cheapest, greasiest slice of pizza we could find.

Josh, our friend from Zurich who is now living in St. Louis, met us in the City for the weekend. It was so great to see him - it was like no time had gone by. We caught up over beers at dodgy Irish pubs, dinners in obscure bistros and even caught Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (so good) and the hilarious Toxic Avenger off Broadway (starring American Idol's Diana de Garmo who has some serious pipes).

No telling how long it will be before we're back again - but until then at least we can dream about living in a Brownstone and strolling around a sunny Central Park on Sundays!
